On Sunday tasks we work in or around Edinburgh.
We provide free transport in our minibus from Edinburgh to our work site. We try not to spend too much time driving to the task, and we aim to be back in Edinburgh by 5.30 p.m.
How to book
We welcome anyone who can make a positive contribution to our work. If you are under 18 or have special needs, please see the detailed information about working with LCV. The most important thing is that you are happy to work all day outdoors in any weather.
If this is your first task or you are a regular volunteer, you put your name down for a task in same way.
You must book in advance by the Friday evening before the task. This is so that we know how many tools to take and whether there's room in the minibus, and so that we don't go without you.
Please book by telephoning Debbie on 0131 337 0223. If you get the answerphone, leave a landline number and evening number, rather than a mobile number or work number if you can. If you hear from Debbie's answering machine that the task you want to go on is full, you can still leave your details to go on the waiting list. If there's a last minute cancellation, Debbie will then get in touch with you.
Debbie won't call you back unless there is a problem, so if you don't hear from her, assume that a place has been reserved for you.
We only have 12 seats in the bus, and it is often full, so please come if you've booked, or someone else will miss out.
At the moment, you can't book by e-mail or online.
Where to meet
Meet on the north side of St Andrew Square at 9.30 am sharp. For directions to St Andrew Square, look on our map page.
Look out for our white minibus.
We don't cancel the task if it's raining.
What to bring
Be prepared to be outside all day, whatever the weather.
You will need:
- warm, tough clothes
- waterproofs: jacket and (ideally) trousers
- sturdy boots or wellies. We recommend boots with steel toecaps if you have them.
- your lunch and a drink On hot sunny days you will get thirsty so bring plenty of drinking water: 1.5 to 2 litres is recommended.
We will provide all the other tools and safety equipment.
Please make sure that your tetanus vaccination is up to date before coming on task with us.
Cost
Sunday tasks are free.
We even provide free tea, coffee and biscuits!
