Detailed events programmeFor all events it is better to book beforehand by emailing either Alexandra or Emma, social convenors giving your contact details, this way you can be updated if there is a change in arrangements. But, if you are not sure what you're doing until the last minute, for most events it is possible to just turn up. Updates on social events are sometimes circulated on LCV News, our online newsgroup Thurs 17 December German Market and the Big WheelJoin LCV at the German Market on Princes Street for a wander around the market stalls followed by some gluhwein, perhaps some ice skating and if you are feeling brave, a ride on the Big Wheel. Fri 2 April - Mon 5 April Easter Hillwalking tripWe will be leaving Edinburgh on the morning of Friday 2 April, travelling by minibus to Kinlochewe near Torridon in the North West Highlands. We will be staying at Kinlochewe Bunkhouse which we have sole use of. The accommodation is basic – bunk beds in a shared dorm but, there is heating and showers. You will need to bring a warm sleeping bag and towel in addition to warm, waterproof clothing and hiking boots. We will have some communal self catering meals (similar to residential tasks) and will eat at the adjacent hotel on one night. We plan to walk on the Saturday and Sunday and return to Edinburgh by 8pm on Monday 5 April. Torridon is a spectacular mountain area with dramatic Munros like Beinn Alligan (mountain of beauty). There are also many smaller hills, nature trails and fine coastal scenery. You should be reasonably fit but it is likely there will be some options for walks. Costs for the weekend will include a contribution to the travel costs (£12) accommodation (£36) communal food (approx £15) and money for a meal out, drinks and lunch e.g. at a cafe on the Friday and Monday (approx £50).
