LCV's 40th birthday celebrations began on a Friday evening with a meal and a chance to stay over in the Brownie House in Vogrie Country Park. On Saturday there was a chance to get involved with practical tasks with a choice of meadow raking or clearing and burning understory. Twenty-seven volunteers drawn from all four decades of LCV's activity lent a hand to do a very thorough job (despite the occasional comment about the unseasonably hot and sunny weather). On Saturday night still more volunteers came along for a celebratory meal and quiz and a chance to catch up with old friends and order an anniversary T-shirt.

Volunteers from the early days were delighted to tell the current crop that though the hairstyles may have changed LCV's activity now is very similar to that in years gone by.

Many volunteers drift away from the group as childcare commitments take over and so Sunday offered a range of family friendly walks, pond dipping and games, not forgetting the cutting of the official LCV birthday cake!

Thanks very much to Edel and Sarah as party masterminds as without their efforts the whole thing would have been very much less impressive and successful, to Nicola for T-shirt design and anniversary Mucker editing, to David for cooking, to Emma for organising Sunday's entertainment, to Simon, Kirsty, Ken and Louisa for cooking cake, driving, leading and generally helping out, to Midlothian Ranger Service and Girlguiding Scotland for providing us with a venue and to all those volunteers past and present who have worked together to produce 40 years of continuous activity.

This page will be updated shortly with futher photographs. In the meantime, some photographs are available on the LCVNews Yahoo! Group for subscribers.

T-shirts

If you wish to order an LCV T-shirt (as seen on the 40th weekend), then please fill in the order form and mail a printed copy to Mark with payment.

All shirts are made of organically-grown cotton by Okarma and are available in male and female fits in a variety of colours. Please note that the male shirts are loose fit whereas the female shirts are tight.

Of course, we have the obligatory, er, "glamour" photo:
